Brendan Meyer

Brendan Meyer; Parent, Partner, self-employed new media marketer and active community member, has announced their candidacy for the Port Angeles City Council.

I’m excited to announce my candidacy for the Port Angeles City Council and to have the opportunity to continue representing the community that I love. During my time on city council, I’ve been a strong advocate for responsible spending and have been outspoken against rate hikes. I believe that we need to think outside the box about new revenue sources that don’t require increasing taxes at this unprecedented time in the face of extreme inflation affecting our community.

  • I have been a resident of Port Angeles for almost six years and have been active in the community since arriving.
  • I have served on several important committees during my time on the City Council, including: the Utility Advisory Committee, Clallam Transit, the Peninsula Regional Transportation Organization, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Olympic Peninsula Tourism Commission. I pride myself on being a vocal proponent of expanded partnerships, promoting economic development, and ensuring that the City provides high-quality services to its residents.
  • I believe that Port Angeles is a great place to live and work, but we need to be responsible stewards of the resources we have.  We need to work to find innovative solutions to the challenges facing our community
  • I am committed to representing all residents of Port Angeles, and I will continue to engage in vigorous debate on the council to ensure that we are making the best decisions for our community.

Thank you for electing me last election cycle! I hope that the decisions I made over the last four years have earned your vote in this election. During my time on city council I showed leadership and steadfastness in representing all of the citizens of Port Angeles. The Covid-19 pandemic wasn’t easy on anyone and added more complexity to the role of city councilor than I could have imagined.  I promise to continue standing up for the citizens of Port Angeles and voting my conscience. I do not rubber stamp staff suggestions. For me, being on council is about making sure all of Port Angeles is represented. I don’t bow to the needs of special interests nor do I vote just to have a unanimous consensus amongst the council members.
Yes- there have been a few 6-1 votes during my time on the council but I believe that fact illustrates my willingness to vote NO when needed. It’s easy to allow the pressure of being the dissenting vote to sway one’s decision, but I feel I have continued to be a strong voice. If elected for a second term I will continue to be out front moving Port Angeles forward.
